On the Auspicious Occasion of the day of ‘Arafah, Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) Online Seminary Extends its Condolences on the Sad Event of the Martyrdom of Muslim ibn Aqil, the ambassador of Imam Husain (peace be upon him)

If one missed the blessings of the Night of Qadr then the day of ‘arafah is not to be missed. Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) says, ‘Whoever is not forgiven during Ramadan will not be forgiven until the next Ramadan unless s/he witnesses the ‘arafah.’

The sanctity of this day is so dear that it is narrated from Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him), ‘Supplicate for whatever you want and strive in it as today is the day of ‘arafah, the day of supplication and acceptance’. To the extent that the Imam says to a poor person asking for help, ‘Woe to you! Do you seek help from other than God on such a day? The day of ‘arafah is so great that it is hoped that even the fetuses in the mother's womb will be blessed.

Indeed, every occasion manifolds in its rewards and greatness with the remembrance of Karbala. ‘arafah marks the day when Muslim ibn Aqil, the ambassador and the cousin of Imam Husain (peace be upon him) was asked to go to Kufa and take allegiance from the people who had written hundreds of letters asking the Imam to topple to the rulership of the Umayyad’s. Muslim received a grand welcome in Kufa and immediately wrote to the Imam about their loyalty. However, little did he know that he would be betrayed by them. Ibn Zyad, who came to Kufa to squash the uprising, announced a heavy price for Muslim. Through treachery, Muslim was handed over to Ibn Zyad who ordered them to martyr and decapitate the body of Muslim in front of the people. May Allah curse the oppressors of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them)

On this significant day, we ask Allah to help us prepare for the advent of our living Imam, al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance)
