Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) Online Seminary offers Heartfelt Felicitations on the Commencement of the Month of Rajab and the Birthday of Imam Baqir (peace be upon him)

What an auspicious way to commence an auspicious month! The 1st of Rajab marks the birthday anniversary of our 5th Imam, Imam Baqir, the illuminator of knowledge (peace be upon him).

He was born in the year 57 AH and was the first one to be born as an Alavi and a Fatimi. His father was the 4th Imam son of Imam Husain (peace be upon him) while his mother was called Umm Aba Abdillah, the daughter of Imam Hasan (peace be upon him). Therefore, he is a Husaini as well as a Hasani.

Muhammad ibn Muslim narrates that one day I asked Imam Baqir ( peace be upon him ) that there are many servants of God, who worship Him with humility and wholeheartedly but do not acknowledge your Wilayah (guardianship), will their worship benefit them?

He (peace be upon him) replied, “O Muhammad! the example of the Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them) is like the Israelite family. Each one of them prayed for forty nights and their prayer was accepted. Similarly, one of the family members prayed for forty nights but his prayers were not answered. He went to Prophet Isa (Jesus, peace be upon him) to enquire and complain about it. Prophet Isa (peace be upon him) inquired about it from God and the reply came;

 ‘O, Isa! My servant has knocked on my door from the place where he wasn’t permitted. He prayed to me while doubting your prophethood.

If he continues praying to the extent that his neck gets twisted and his fingers are torn apart, I will not answer his prayers.’

The Prophet turned towards that person and said, “You ask God while you doubt his messenger!?” the person acknowledged his fault, and asked the prophet to pray for forgiveness. He was forgiven and his prayers were answered.
