Abū Ṭālib (peace be upon him), a man who protected the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his pure progeny) from all the harms of Quraish, who stood tall, supported and encouraged the Prophet in all circumstances finally bid farewell to this mortal world about 10 years after the start of Muhammad’s (peace be upon him and his pure progeny) mission.

As far as Abu Talib (peace be upon him) was alive the Quraysh sanctioned the Prophet but did not have the courage to rise against him or physically harm him. However, after his death, they troubled him to the extent that he said, “By God, Quraysh never harmed me so much as after the death of Abu Talib.” The Muslims on the other hand were forced to relocate to Abyssinia and then to Medina in order to escape persecution by the Quraysh.

The grief of losing this great personality and also his beloved wife, Lady Khadijah (peace be upon her), in a short span of time was so intense that the Prophet named the year as the ‘year of sorrow’, ‘Ām al-Ḥuzn.

On this sad day wherein the Prophet (peace be upon him and his pure progeny) and the Imams (peace be upon them) grieve, Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) Online Seminary grieves alongside them and offers its condolences to all the believers, especially the Imam of our time and pray to Allah to hasten his reappearance.
