“… The wrongdoers will come to know what ˹evil˺ end they will meet.” (26:227)

On the 8th of Shawwal, 1344 A.H. (April 21, 1926), the evil hands of Abdul Aziz Al Saud, founder of Saudi dynasty, attacked and demolished one of the holiest Islamic sites in the world, the sacred shrines of Imam Hasan Mujtaba, Imam Ali Zaynul Abideen, Imam Muhammad al-Baqir, and Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (peace be upon them) and according to some indications, the grave of the beloved daughter of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his pure progeny).

In the same year, the Saudi government also demolished other mausoleums, like the mausoleums and shrines of the prophet’s mother, wife, grandfather, and other ancestors. They also erased the signs of all the historical Islamic sites and monuments and demolished the graves of more than 200 famous companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his pure progeny). The Saudi government banned Muslims from reconstructing the shrines and graves from that time until today.

The enemies tried all they could and oppressed the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) during their life as well as after their martyrdom to extinguish the light of guidance but even after all the atrocities the light of Allah is ever so illuminating, bringing to mind the divine promise in Surat al-Tawbah [verse 32] "They wish to extinguish Allah’s light with their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light, even to the dismay of the disbelievers."

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) says: “Whoever visits us after our death, it is as if he has visited us during our lifetime.” Biḥār al-Anwār v.97, pg. 124

On this day of grief, we ask Allah to hasten the reappearance of the Promised one to avenge the rights of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) and bring justice to the world.
