Imam Ali Al-Naqi (a.s.) was born on the fifteenth of Dhu al-Hijjah in the year 212 A.H. in Siriya, near Medina. ??? ?????? ??? ???? ???????? ???? (????? ?? ???? ???) ??? ??? ?????? ??? ?????? ???????. His nickname was Abul Hasan and his titles were Naqi, Hadi, ‘alim, Faqih, ‘Amin, Mu’tamin, Tayyib, Mutawakkil, and Najib. Imam Hadi (peace be upon him) was also called Abul Hasan Thalith (the third).
Ibn Shahr ‘ashub has described Imam Ali Al-Naqi (peace be upon him) this way, “??? ???? ??? ???? ?????????? ???? ???? ?? ?????? ??? ??? ?????? ??? ????? ???? ???? ?? ??????. ?? ??? ??? ???? ??????? ??? ??? ?????? ?? ??? ??? ??????. ???? ?? ??? ??????, ??? ??????? ?????????, ??? ???? ?? ?????? ??? ???????????? ????????. ?? ??? ???? ??? ?????? ?? ???????????, ???????, ??? ????????? ?? ??? ???????. ?? ??? ? ?????? ???? ? ????? ??????????? ????, ??? ??????????? ???? ??? ??? ??? ???? ????. ?? ??? ??? ????? ?? ??? ???????? ????, ????? ??? ???????? ? ????? ???? ????? ??????? ????.”
Ibn Sabbagh Maliki narrates, “??? ??????? ?? ???? ????? ??? ??? ???????? ???? (????? ?? ???? ???) ??? ???? ? ???? ???? ?????? ?? ??? ???? ?? ????? ??? ????? ????? ??? ???????? ?? ??? ?????. ??? ?????? ?? ?????????? ???? ?? ????????? ?? ?????????. ?? ?? ????? ??? ??????. ??? ????????? ?? ??????? ???????? ???. ??? ??????, ???????, ??? ????? ??? ?????? ?? ??? ???????, ??????? ??? ???? ???? ?????, ???? ?? ? ???????? ????????? ??? ?????? ?????? ???? ???????. ??? ???? ?? ????, ??? ?????? ??? ????, ??? ??? ??????? ?? ?????????.”
Musa ibn `Abdullah al-Nakha`i is reported to have asked Imam `Ali al-Naqi al-Hadi (peace be upon him), saying, “O son of Allah’s Messenger! Please teach me a comprehensively eloquent ziarat that I may say whenever I visit any of you (i.e. the Holy Imams).” The Imam (peace be upon him) therefore taught him ????? ?-????? ??-???????, ????? ????????? ?? ??????? ??-??????? ?? ??? ???? ??????? ????????????? ???? ?? ??? ????, ????? ?? ?????????, ?????????, ??? ????????.
