The martyrdom of this unborn baby is indeed a tragedy that explains the numerous sufferings brought upon the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) after the martyrdom of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his pure progeny) by his alleged companions.

History narrates the horrendous incident that took place after the martyrdom of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his pure progeny). At Saqifah, Abu Bakr was chosen by a small minority to presume the post of the caliphate. As soon as he took charge, he ordered everyone to pay allegiance to him. Many great companions of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his pure progeny) refused to pay allegiance to him. Even his father was surprised at his selection saying, 'If you are chosen due to your age and experience, then I am more worthy of it and if you are chosen on the basis that you are related to the Holy Prophet, then Ali is nearer to him. '

Abu Bakr along with his close friend Umar and their mercenaries went around asking for allegiance and threatening them upon their denial.

They asked for allegiance from Imam Ali (peace be upon him) and the Imam refused. Therefore, to take the allegiance from him the apparent caliph sends his friend along with their mercenaries to the house of the only daughter of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his pure progeny). When Lady Fatimah (peace be upon her) denied them entry, they threatened to burn down her house. Wood was called for and the door was set alight. The door was burning when the wretched slammed the door whilst Lady Fatimah (peace be upon her) was standing behind it. The nail of the door pierced her chest and she was crushed between the door and the wall. This led to the miscarriage of the unborn baby Muhsin.

On this day, we ask Allah to multiply the punishment of those who oppressed the daughter of His messenger and to hasten the reappearance of the one who will avenge the martyrdom Muhsin ibn Ali (peace be upon them) and to help us be amongst his helpers and supporters.
